Further engorging my Radiohead boner...

This year's North American tour seemed, in my mind, sure to be the end of the greatest band since the Floyd. Not sure why I thought that, but I did. Actually, I do know why, but it doesn't matter; this article is just the kinda news I needed.

A History Of LSD

An interesting comic, well done, but for me it seems to be lacking something?

About May

I managed to switch my moonlighting shift in May, so I'll be home on the 17th. Are we still doing the camping thing? I'm game for whatever; I just need to know what to bring home with me.

Oh, and Jon - glad to hear you're moving back.

All I'm sayin' is, holy shit, as if it wasn't disjointed enough already, what the fuck happened @3:22?

And lets not forget......

the fire extiguisher Garcia discharged in his dorm room hours AFTER receiving the alcohol citation.

From EDSBS.com:

Stephen Garcia sits in his dorm, alone except for the tiny, floating Matthew McConaughey on his shoulder.SG: I’m ****ing bored man.

Tiny, Floating Matthew McConaughey: Brah, stop the bitchin’ and get to itchin’. If it’s too quiet in the church, who’s gonna make some noise if you don’t ring some bells, man?

SG: I’m gonna set off the fire extinguisher. I’ve been wanting to do that for weeks.

TFMM: RIGHT ON. Take your shirt off and make it happen. You’re like a primitive warrior ready to fight in mud with a loincloth naked, and the fire extinguisher….it’s like some ancient sabretooth you’ve got to own. Just like I punched those dragons in Reign of Fire.

SG: ****in’ right. Sometimes I can hear it taunting me.

TFMM: It IS taunting you. Can’t you hear it now? I can because I’m Toll Housed.

SG: Ring ring, you little red bitch.

TFMM: You’re a dolphin in a sea of purple freedom, baby YEAH.

Speaking of Garcia

McCain's cred

John McCain gets a lot of passes in the media for "slip-ups" because he is taken to have a great depth and breadth of knowledge. Kevin Drum, of The Washington Monthly, asks the right question: "where does all this cred come from? And what window do Democrats go to to get the same treatment the press gives McCain?"

Have a Pink Floyd Easter

On the way to work this morning I heard the coolest Good Friday/Easter story EVA. I don't know if you guys ever listen to the Glen Beck Program but that is where I heard it. Anyway, while he was giving his overly dramatic interpretation(something about letting the pain hurt today) the Great Gig was popping off in the background. More people need to recognize the pure brilliance that is Pink Floyd.

The Collapse of the Surge

The security gains of the surge in Iraq resulted in a large part from the so-called Sunni awakening. This was, in effect, a buying of the loyalty of Sunni tribes (for about $10 a day per fighter) in the fight against Al-Queda in Iraq. But some Sunnis are claiming that they've never been paid for their services, and are threatening to withdraw their support.

House rejects telecom immunity!

The House of Representatives just passed a FISA measure that does not include immunity for telecommunications companies involved in warrantless surveillance. It does allow these companies to produce, in court, documents which would allow for a legal determination of the legitimacy of the claims filed against them.

Glenn Greenwald has more here.

DUNE Tattoo

Oh my god! Mother nature just pissed her pantsuit.

Teaser trailer for the new Ben Stiller flick, Tropic Thunder. In addition to Stiller, the cast includes Jack Black, Ironman Robert Downey, Jr. as a black dude, and Nick Nolte.

The trailer, alas, shows very little, so here's the upshot is that a bunch of actors making a Vietnam movie are forced to become real soldiers.

was gonna post a comment about why the macbook air sucks but the comment window is messed up...doesnt let me add a comment, and even if i could the window comes up way too small and isn't re-sizable :-(

by the way though...

The macbook air

is too expensive
has no optical drive
has no ethernet port
has no firewire port
has ONE usb port
has MONO speakers
has slow 4800 rpm hard drive (because its smaller)
has slow processor (maxes out at 1.6)

I'd wait a while...

Wikileaks: global defense of sources and press freedoms, circa now—

"Wikileaks is developing an uncensorable Wikipedia for untraceable mass document leaking and analysis. Our primary interest is in exposing oppressive regimes in Asia, the former Soviet bloc, Sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East, but we also expect to be of assistance to people of all regions who wish to reveal unethical behavior in their governments and corporations. We aim for maximum political impact. Our interface is identical to Wikipedia and usable by all types of people. We have received over 1.2 million documents so far from dissident communities and anonymous sources."

Got some pretty good stuff on there, and make sure to check out the whole saga with Wikileaks being shut down by a Federal Judge over leaking documents about a prominent Swiss bank's private account activities in the Cayman Islands and their subsequent re-establishment (decision was overturned) just a few days ago!
