Wave of the future
Thought I would throw a little medical tech at ya'll. This is the guy who founded my department in the 1940s. Quite a quack, but his research with deep brain stimulators opened the door for some amazing things we're doing now.

Telecom Immunity Update
House Intelligence Committee Chairman Silvestre (really, dude? -ed.) Reyes has claimed that he is willing to compromise with Republicans on telecom immunity, namely by allowing the secret FISA court to determine whether immunity ought to be granted. This is a similar proposal to the one offered by Diane Feinstein (D-CA) months ago, a proposal which, had it been accepted, would likely have made disclosure of the specifics of the surveillance program impossible.
As Digby notes, the 40 or so lawsuits against the the telecoms aren't that serious of a threat to the companies in terms of potential awards:
"There just isn't enough money at stake to explain this. Nobody's suing for the money, they are suing for the discovery. Something bad happened here and the Democrats are helping the Republicans cover it up."

House Judiciary Committee willing to arrest Rove to force compliance...
Debbie Wasserman of the House Judiciary Committee has stated that Rove will not be permitted to invoke executive privilege in an effort to avoid testifying about the fired US attorneys. If Rove doesn't comply with the Congressional subpoena, Wasserman claimed that the committee would be willing to have him arrested.

Is the heart situated in the center of the torso (horizontally) or to the left? These kids last night (including that guy Tommy who went camping with us) wanted to say that it was situated on the left side. If this is an accurate diagram, it seems that the heart is situated centrally. Clearly, the thing is not symmetrical, so that muddies things, but if you had to say where the heart was located, what would you say?

Uncle Sam just deposited 600 Dollars in my checking account
....of borrowed money from china. It almost makes me want to give it back. But nah, I think I'll keep it. As we continue to drive the value of our dollars into the tank, at least let me put some of this 1.7 trillion dollars of chinese investement to some practical use. I think I'm going to save up and buy an AT-AT imperial walker and settle this world domination issue once and for all. I bet I could do it for a lot cheaper than old Der-bya can. Clemson track coach deposited meet funds into a personal account

CLEMSON — The State Law Enforcement Division says Clemson track coach Bob Pollock deposited money from track meets into a personal bank account.
Although an investigation by SLED found that Pollock and assistant coach Charles Foster collected more than $27,000 worth of track fees that did not go to the university, 13th circuit solicitor Robert Ariail recommended that no charges be filed in the case — partly because the two coaches have already paid restitution to Clemson.
In May of 2007, SLED began an investigation involving a breach of trust at the behest of Clemson's university police department. According to SLED's report, Pollock and Foster conducted track meets and collected entry fees from high school and college athletes who were unaffiliated with Clemson.
Four months earlier, assistant women's track coach Glenn McAtee informed Clemson's internal auditing department that he had observed Pollock initiate "a pattern of systematic fraud and embezzlement" of athletic department funds, SLED said.
An audit by Clemson found that, from January 2004 to December 2006, a total of $27,397 worth of fees went unaccounted for — $24,872 from high school events and $2,525 from college events. According to SLED, Pollock told a superior that a previous administrator orally approved of his putting funds into a personal account, explaining that the duties related to running track meets were "extraordinary and tedious."
The report said that in February of 2007, Pollock and Foster agreed to a reduction of their salaries to reimburse Clemson for the missing funds. Athletic director Terry Don Phillips could not be reached Friday evening, but he has said he will evaluate the status of both coaches after the season.
SLED turned the case over to Ariail in July, according to the documents. Ariail said charges were not warranted because Clemson "disciplined and punished" Pollock and Foster.
The report said both coaches refused to provide statements to SLED during the investigation.
Ariail "strongly" suggested Clemson "review, clarify, amend and strengthen the existing policies that allowed this serious situation to develop."
Pollock and Foster were at the ACC outdoor championships in Atlanta on Friday and could not be reached for comment.
Lawmakers want probe of college football bowl system
